AMFaA started in the summer of 2020, in the midst of the pandemic and at the height of my creative ‘itch’. In order to practice something new, I took up digital drawing and started to draw portraits of my friends as aliens. Since I enjoyed working with the vibrant colours and funky shapes so much, I kept going. It soon turned into a series on my Instagram and I started to offer drawing portraits of other people who wished to have them. After a while, it also became a particular ‘milestone’ for my Twitch stream viewers, meaning that for a certain amount of ‘chat points’ a viewer could redeem an alien portrait commission. People have also commissioned their pets to be turned into aliens. Almost two years after the start of the project and I have made 36 new aliens. And they are all my friends.
